V. Edward Whitlatch

V. Edward Whitlatch, 83, of Parkersburg died Aug. 25, 2006, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

He was born at New England, Wood County, a son of the late Virgil C. and Esther (Sole) Whitlatch.

Mr. Whitlatch worked at the Parkersburg Rig and Reel from 1941-59 and was a former president of the Union there. He retired from Borg-Warner / GE Plastics after 28 years as an electrician. Edward was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Grace Gospel Church in Pettyville.

Surviving is his wife of eight years, Colleen Hood Whitlatch; two sons, John H. Whitlatch and his wife, Donna, of Parkersburg and James H. Whitlatch and his wife, JoAnn, of Parkersburg; two daughters, Jeanette E. Whitehead and her husband, Sonny, of Belleville and Julia A. Sams and her husband, Curtis, of Parkersburg; a stepson, David Alan Hood and his wife, Patty, of Ravenswood; two stepdaughters, Kathy Greenleaf and her husband, Ronnie, of Ravenswood and Paula Walker and her husband, Dave, of Ravenswood; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Aileen Greenburg Whitlatch; brother, Forrest Whitlatch; sister, Doris Lucas; and stepson, Randy Keith Hood.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastors Lawrence Conger Jr. and Mike Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1218 Market St., Parkersburg, WV 26101.
