John Farnsley, 35 years old, a lineman for the Interstate Public Service Company, narrowly escaped death at 9:30 o'clock Friday morning while working on a line at Corydon, Ind., when he suffered a shock from a wire carrying 4,000 volts.
The injured man was rushed to St. Edward's Hospital after being attended by Dr. George H. Martin at Corydon. His right hand was severely burned.
Farnsley, with two other workmen, George J. Barker and his brother, Peter Barker, both of New Albeny, were working on a line on Market Street. The former came in contact with the wire and called for help. George Barker hit Farnsley a blow on the leg with his cap and knocked his feet from the pole, leaving his belt holding him to the pole, which was sixty feet high. When his feet were knocked from the pole, his hand was released from the wire.
