Margie Best Camenisch
Of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Caring Hearts and Hands in Greenwood. She was 96. Margie was born May 20, 1914 in Springfield, KY to John Phillip and Minnie Simpson Best.
Mrs. Camenisch graduated from Springfield High School in 1932. She worked several years for the Baptist Long Run Assoc. in Louisville, KY, doing mission work throughout the city. Later she graduated in 1942, from Campbellsville College, then a Junior College. She took classes in Georgetown College and Center College while she was secretary of Lexington Ave. Baptist Church in Danville. She taught kindergarten at Lexington Ave. Baptist Church in Danville, KY for several years.
On January 25, 1947, she married Paul Camenisch. They had one son, Paul Douglas Camenisch. Her husband passed away in 1962.
In 1981, she moved to Milton, DE. She became very active in the Goshen United Methodist Church and later joining Eagles Nest Fellowship Church.
For many years, she was active in Prison Fellowship ministry, Nursing Home ministry and the Milton Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her son, Paul Douglas Camenisch, his wife Helen; a granddaughter, Amanda Elaine Camenisch and her fiance Patrick Kilby; one great-granddaughter, Sara Elaine Stringfellow and one grandson, Paul Douglas Camenisch II and his wife Heidi Lowe Camenisch; a brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Camenisch of Stanford, KY and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, November 21, at 8 pm in the chapel of SHORT FUNERAL SERVICES, 416 Federal St., Milton, DE, where friends may call after 6 pm Sunday night. Burial will be at a later date in Danville, KY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, 26633 Zion Church Rd., Milton, DE 19968 or Vitas Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302, Newark, DE 19713.
