Joy Bauermeister, 85, of New Richmond, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, peacefully at our home. Joy was born on September 16, 1935, in Argonne, Wisconsin, to Leonard and Amy (Grandine) Steele at home. Graduation Crandon High School. 2 year teaching degree at the Normal School in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Her first teaching job was in Minnesota in a one room school house – Oakdale School in Corcoran. She would continue to see some of her students 50 years later. She married the love of her life, Fritz, on June 15, 1957. They were blessed with three children. After marriage she became a stay-at home mom up until they moved “all the way” to Wisconsin. Once in New Richmond she started babysitting out of their home. She then became a teacher at Slaters Nursery school after that she became a teacher at Noah’s Ark preschool which she loved up until she retired. Joy is survived by her children, Gary (Debbie) Bauermeister, of Amery, WI, Larry (Julie) Bauermeister, of New Richmond, WI, and Kari (Jim) Stockwell, of Brandon, WI. Ten grandchildren, Michael (Holly) Bauermeister, Travis (Kendal) Bauermeister, Tyler Bauermeister, Ted Bauermeister, Alan Bauermeister, Alexis (Brent) Schulze, Fletcher (Clarissa) Stockwell, Kalley (Tyson) Haen, Brady (Anne) Stockwell and Steele (Morgan) Haen. Great grandchildren, Avery, Jacob, Logan, Oakley, Porter, Able, Vayda, Ciera, Henry, and Alex. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick (Fritz) Bauermeister; brothers, Don Steele, Chuck Steele; and sister, Bette Derickson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1 pm at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church 365 W River Dr, New Richmond, WI 54017 and will be streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 12-1 pm at the church. Interment will be in Boardman Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
