It is with great sadness that I inform my friends and family that yesterday our Mom; Loretta Jane Chevrette King Salt passed away peacefully in her sleep. Her health had not been the best over the past few years and I know that loosing our brother Rick and then our Dad Glen, made her sad and lonely. She was our hero, our rock and my brother Dan, my sister Cheryl and I will find it very hard to cope for the foreseeable future. How do you say goodbye to someone who shaped, molded and loved you with passion and depth that was immeasurable? She taught us how to laugh, how to treat others with respect and to love with all our hearts. We had a wonderful childhood, never perfect but we always knew how much we were loved.
Our home was filled with noise and fun, sometimes anger and disappointment; good times and bad times for that is a full life, but always, always we were treated to the best she and my Dad could give. Their home was the house that all the kids hung out, sitting on the deck in McKellar they would watch us all play and sit and talk to our friends, laugh and joke with everyone, feed our bellies and our minds. In every home they made, the door was always open. Mom's hardships after loosing our Father Teddy changed our lives, but she gave and gave. We were not rich in dollars, but rich in life and experiences.
So many people passed through their doors, a meal, a game of cards or dice or coffee/tea and visits. She was a honorary Nanny to so many, I could not tell you how many, I lost count years ago. I know that many of them will be feeling like we do right now and my heart goes out to them, your pain is our pain, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
To our wonderful Aunt Shirley Baker, we owe you such gratitude, you cared and loved Mom for all these years, putting your own health to risk to take care of her, we are so sorry that you had to loose your Sister, your Friend and companion. WE LOVE YOU and THANK YOU. Thank you Dan King for being there for her too... It meant so much to us, your sisters and to Mom as well.
To our Uncles and Aunts, Mom's brothers and sisters, we share your sorrow, the loss of another of your siblings is heartbreaking: we love you all and know that her love for you all was so precious to her. To all her friends, family, nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws and out-laws, we feel your sadness and love and thank you for your words of condolence. It is very much appreciated.
I cannot put into words the life of one so meaningful to us in a few paragraphs. I hope, that to all those who take the time to read this, that you remember her in your own way. Smile when you think of her, cry a little for the loss of someone who we will now have to be without and hold her forever in your heart, as we will. She was a force to be reckoned with, our true hero and now a very big part of our hearts will forever more be missing.
Rest in Peace Momma, Love you forever and ever...Yvonne, Cheryl and Dan
