Douglas Allen Arrington, 82, passed away on March 6, 2021 at his home in Fredericksburg, VA.

Mr. Arrington was an 18 year veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard. He was a loving and caring family man, who took great joy in his grand and great-grandchildren. He loved sports and played until 42 years old. He said he didn’t care about winning, but was always very competitive in life. He loved decorating for all holidays and spreading joy for the neighborhood. He could always make you laugh, and would do so if you were having a hard time. He loved fishing, Nascar, and John Wayne movies. His guilty pleasure was scratch-off tickets.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Arrington; two children Dale Arrington and Sandra Dickson; and his brother, Roy Arrington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Thelma Hall Arrington; and his youngest son, Gary Lee Arrington.

He was grandfather to Brian Arrington (fiance Kelly), Amy Weisenburger (husband Bill), Catherine McKinney, Raven Zuccari, TJ Euzent (husband Jon), Jeremy Dickson (wife April), Robert Arrington, and Nathan Arrington; and his 10 great-grandchildren.

All services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American heart association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23606. 804-747-8334.
