Edna L Barton was born January 28, 1908 in Bowie or Red River County, Texas to William Walter Barton and Ida Elizabeth Collvins. Edna was the middle child with four older siblings and three younger. She had three brothers, William Emmons Colvin Barton, Otis Alexander and Edward W, and four sisters, Ima Clara, Syble B, Jessie M and Myrtle.
Her parents removed from east Texas to the plains of western Oklahoma, settling in Kiowa County. They lived near Mountain View, Roosevelt and Hobart for a couple of decades before settling in Bryan County, near Durant.
Edna married James A Hawke October 1, 1927 in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. They were parents of a son James A Hawke. After James died in 1935, she married Chris R Hawkins December 23, 1937 in Kiowa County. She lived in Cleo Springs at the time of her death.
Edna is the granddaughter of Andrew William Collvins and Matilda Sheldon Vineyard and is my grandfather's niece.
