Calvin A. Sotdorus, 89, of Glen Rock, died Friday, March 5, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of the late Ruby J. (Brillhart) Sotdorus.
Due to the Covid-19 guidelines, the family is choosing to honor Calvin with a public graveside service to be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at St. Paul's (Dub's) Church Cemetery, 1958 Dub's Church Road, Hanover, with military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Masks and social distancing will be required at the cemetery. Officiating at the service will be his pastor the Rev. Sue Fritz. There will be no viewing. The service can be viewed on the Geiple-Predicce Funeral and Cremation Services Facebook page at 11 am Wednesday.
Mr. Sotdorus was born November 2, 1931 in Red Lion and was a son of the late Zebary J. and Lottie J. (Cape) Sotdorus.
He was a 1949 graduate of Glen Rock High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean conflict.
He had owned and operated the former Sotdorus Motor Company in Glen Rock from 1946 to 2007 also was involved with the Sotdorus Land Company for many years.
Calvin was a member of St. Paul’s (Dub’s) United Church of Christ, Hanover, the York County Garagemen’s Association, and was a life member of the Austin L. Grove American Legion Post #403, Glen Rock where he served as a Past Commander and various other offices of the Post over the years. He also was a member of Pennsylvania American Legion District 22, a 40-year member of 40 & 8 Organization, 50-year member of the Vikings Athletic Club, York, Life Member of the Hanover Moose Lodge #227 and Life Member of the West York VFW Post 8951.
He leaves, two daughters, Susan E. Bartell (Doug) of New Freedom and Stacey E. Wueschinski (Ed) of New Oxford; was “Pap” to four grandchildren, Justin Sotdorus, Nick Bartell (Nicki), Joshua Wueschinski (Emily), Jared Wueschinski; three great grandchildren, Chandler, Anna and Fletcher; and by a sister, Geraldine S. Rohrbaugh (Norm) of Glen Rock. He was predeceased by a son, Calvin A. "Junie" Sotdorus, Jr.
