Jerry was born to the late Mr. Pleasant "Pete" Tivis and Mrs. Francis Joyce (Norton) Tivis in Duncan on July 6, 1946.
He had lived in the Southern Oklahoma area his entire life. He attended school in Velma and after graduating he attended college in Okmulgee for two years. Jerry was a true cowboy and was a calf roper and a team roper for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors and working on his ranch and raising cattle. Jerry provided rodeo stock for the Old Settlers Picnic in Velma for many years. He was awarded the 122nd Annual Old Settlers Picnic Living Legend Award in 2012. In his earlier years Jerry enjoyed raising and fighting roosters. He and Dianna Ratliff were married on April 23, 1987 in Gainesville, TX. Jerry was of the Christian faith and was a member of the Countyline First Baptist Church.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Joshua Hensley.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Tivis of the home; sons, Jeffery Tivis of Ratliff City, Joey Hensley and his wife Justin of Ratliff City; daughters, Cindy Stevens and her companion Chuck of Ardmore, Gala Lockwood and her husband Gary of Ratliff City; sisters, Judy Sullivan and her husband Nub of Ratliff City, Janet Sullivan of Ratliff City; grandchildren, Carrie Richardson of Velma, Kasi Beaird and husband Trent of Blanchard, Levi Foster and his wife April of Tulsa, and Graci Lockwood of Ratliff City; great grandchildren, Carrisa Richardson, Cassie Richardson, Braidyn Tivis, Kyndell Beaird, Jayden Hensley, and Luna Foster; special cousin, Betty Petty of Countyline; Many other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as casket bearers will be Stevie Cogswell, Chris Tivis, Gary Lockwood, Joey Hensley, Levi Foster, and Charlie Foster.
Honorary casket bearers will be Don Burton, John Griffin, Randy Wright, and Hank Presgrove.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 8, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ratliff City.
