In loving memory of Verna Isabelle (née Gibson)(Golder) Rathbone, 1936-2010.

The family announces with sorrow the passing of Verna Rathbone at the age of 73, dearly loved wife of Foster Rathbone of Azilda and predeceased by Reginald Golder in 1999. Loving mother of Debra (Denis Bertrand), Robert Golder (Helen Mueller), Wayne Golder (Carol), and Linda (John Morgan). Cherished grandmother of Amanda (Nathan), Julie (Bruce), Derek (Michelle), Elaine (Ryan), Travis (Karina), Jeffrey, Richard (Emily), Stephanie (Tristan), Kandice, Kimberly, Nathan, Jacob and great-grandchildren Emily, Sophie, Bronwyn, Allison, Ethan, Holly, Josselyn, Joel, and William.

Dear daughter of George and Mona Gibson both predeceased. Dear sister of Merle (Michael Ross), Wilma (Sheldon Nieforth), James Gibson (Gisele) and predeceased by Joan (Tom Hood of Garson). Sadly missed by many sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews, stepchildren and their families.

Verna was born in Teulon, Manitoba in 1936. She moved to Minnow Lake at the age of four. In 1954, she married Reginald Golder and they moved to Azilda, where they raised their family. She was a Bus Driver for 27 years. Verna was active in the community. She served and held office in a number of community groups, including the Vanier Club, TOPS, the Red Hat Society, Gold Wing Road Riders Association and Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group. She regularly attended St. Stephen’s United Church in Chelmsford, where she was a lay reader and member of the UCW.

Verna was a friend to all who knew her, a kind and generous person who enjoyed camping, square dancing, and motorcycles, but loved her family most of all.
