Roger, as he was called, was born on April 5, 1936 in Coffey County, Kansas to William Adolf Lyman and Pearl Marie (Dickson) Lyman. He attended Lebo High School and graduated in the class of 1952. After graduation he worked as a Rainbow Bread delivery person and then left for the service. He entered the Army in July 1956 and was discharged from the Army in June 1958. When he returned, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad and then from 1964 through 2011 he owned and operated the Lebo Grain Company.
He married the love of his life on August 9, 1963 in Miami, Oklahoma. Brenda and Roger raised daughters Paige and Paulette while living in Lebo.
He enjoyed working on cars and was a drag racer. While dating Brenda, they would attend drag races. He especially loved Corvettes and owned a 50th Anniversary Corvette.
Survivors include his wife Brenda Jean Lyman of the home, daughters Paige (Lowell) Westfall, Abilene, Kansas and Paulette Lyman, Dallas, Texas, and grandson Brodie Westfall, sister Marjorie Renfro, Emporia, Kansas, and brothers Larry Lyman, Americus, Kansas, and David Lyman, Lebo, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Pearl Lyman, brothers Harvey, Donald, Herbert, Thomas, Robert, and John Lyman.
There will be no service.
