Dorothy Louise (Mackensen) Bell went to be with the Lord Friday, November 6, 2009. She was born December 7, 1917, in Moorehead City, Minnesota.

Dorothy grew up in the Midwest and married Arthur P. Bell in 1941 and moved to Douglas Arizona; then in 1946 moved to Yuma and lived there for 50 years.

Dorothy founded and taught Preschool and Kindergarten at Calvary Lutheran and Christ Lutheran Churches.

Dorothy is remembered by all as the person more concerned about others than herself.

Dorothy is survived by brothers, Rev. Gordon Mackensen and Rev. Robert Mackensen; children, Sheila (Ray) Thompson, Arthur (Dayle) Bell, Robert (Jane) Bell and Charles (Julie) Bell; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be at Christ Lutheran Church in Yuma, 2555 S. Engler Ave. on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Hospice of Yuma or to the Kindergarten program at Christ Lutheran Church.

Her father was Henry Mackensen (1885-1942). Henry married Laura Bohnsack on 4 June 1915 in Wahpeton, Richland County, North Dakota, USA. They were the parents of at least 4 children, including George Charles, Dorothy Louise, Gordon Robert (1918-2010), and Robert Warren Mackensen.
