Howard Ellison DeLand was the first child born to Parker Rufus DeLand and Nettie M. ELLISON DeLand. He married Sada Mary GRIFFIN on Nov. 29, 1896, in Napoleon, Michigan. They had three sons. Howard was a farmer. After the death of "Sadie", Howard married her sister, Dorothy M. GRIFFIN. Howard's brother Gaylord DeLand was married to Winifred GRIFFIN DeLand, sister of "Sadie" and Dorothy.

Age 76, of 6591 N. Brooklyn Rd., passed away Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons Wayne and Melvin; one brother Gaylord; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Mr. DeLand is at the Worthington Funeral Home, Brooklyn where services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. Interment Napoleon.
