Pernie Gladys Chappel, 75, a resident at 408 Bowman St. died at the Taylor County Hospital, Sunday, April 2, 1972 at 9:30 P.M. Death was due to a heart attack, she was admitted only a few hours earlier. Funeral services were conducted at the Bowman Street Church of God Wednesday, April 5, at 2:00 P.M. Burial was in the Chappel Cemetery in Adair County. Mrs Chappel was a native of Adair County born March 18, 1897, Daughter of Ada Wolford and Grant Stayton. She is survived by her husband,Lee, four children:
Murrell and Gerald Chappel, both of Campbellville: Mrs. Orvetta Hovious, Louisville and Mrs Virginia Aragon, Salida, Colorado: 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Her surviving brothers are Virus Stayton, Campbellville: Bob Starton, Rt.1, Elkhorn and Jasper Starton, Iowa City, Iowa. Surviving sisters, Mrs. Hallie Abell, Louisville: Mrs. Edna Farris, Springfield: Mrs Ina Delaney,Iowa City, Iowa and Mrs. Edith Walters, San Diego, CA. Two brothers, Lester and Dan, precede her in death.
