LENEXA, KS-Helen Glancy Shores, 97, Lenexa, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, June 14, 2010, at a local health care facility in Lenexa.

She was born August 6, 1912, in Savannah, MO, the only child of Elmer and Alia (Haughey) Bowman.

Helen was married to Raymond Glancy of Centralia, Kan., until his death in 1961.

In 1984, she married Lawrence Shores of Union Star, Mo, who also preceded her in death in the 1990's.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her only son, Dwane Glancy.

Helen received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Northwest Missouri College, Maryville, MO. She was a proud Elementary School Teacher for over 25 years.

She was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church and the Alpha Delta Kappa. Helen was a strong and an independent woman who taught us good work ethic and perserverance.

Survivors include two grandchildren; David Glancy, Texas; and Jennifer Glancy Brouillette, Kansas City; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services and Interment: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Memorial Park Cemetery.
