WATERVILLE - Gordon L. McCue died peacefully at home early Saturday morning, Jan. 18, 2014, with his wife by his side as a result of an ongoing medical complication following surgery last March.

Gordon was born in Colts Neck, N.J., and raised in Pasadena, Calif., where he received an associate degree in business from the University of Southern California.

He had a passion for sports cars and owned a successful car repair and restoration business in San Marino County.

Another passion was flying. After earning his pilot's license, he flew in the Auxiliary Coast Guard.

After moving to Maine, he married his wife Trish, who died in 2005. Together they raised six children.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Voigt-McCue; his brother, John McCue; his son, Sean McCue, and his wife, Karen; daughter Tracy Choudhury and her husband, Tom; daughter Tiffany Mullen and her husband, Tad; daughter Serena Murray and her husband, Stew; son Doug Dow and his fiancee, Meg; and son Colin McCue; and grandchildren Ryan Drew, Jadrian, Christopher and Patrick.

One of Gordon's strongest traits was his loyalty to his family and close friends. He loved his family more than life itself. He will be missed by many.

His family is grateful to Dr. Julie Phelps for her home visits and for her coordination of medical care in Portland, for Beacon Hospice nurses/staff, for Maine Medical staff and physicians, for Bridges PCA Care, and for Sean & Jim Barnett's neighborly helping hands.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m., with an open remembrance from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, followed by a reception at the E. Hobbs Hospitality Center.

There will be a family visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the home of Gordon and Betsy in Waterville.
