Walter Ray Nair was born to Walter Grant Nair and Bernice Lucille (Fox) Nair in 1943, joined by his little sister Sandra Kaye Nair in 1945. After briefly being cared for by their maternal grandparents, they were mainly raised by their paternal grandparents while in custody of their father. Walter Ray had a brief, difficult life. He is described by Sandra as being a football hero to Alexander Hamilton Junior High; he did not attend high school. Following being disowned by his father after being arrested for a misdemeanor robbery and generally having a difficult time meeting his father's standards, he tragically committed suicide at the age of 25 years old. He lies next to his grandmother, Tina Freeman Nair (1901-1985), and grandfather, Edgar W Nair (1892-1978). His father joined him in death in 2008 and his mother in 2011. He continues to be survived by his little sister, Sandra Kaye (Nair) Schwertman and a few half-siblings as well as his niece, Melissa Kaye (Livingston) Cobb and her two children.
