After a long illness, Elizabeth Ann Levien, passed away at home on June 30, 2016 in Puyallup, Washington with her husband by her side. Betty was born on December 8, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Elizabeth (Kaspar) Walsh. She moved with her family to Southern California when she was 15 years old. A graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a Master’s Degree in Nursing, she was a dedicated RN for over 35 years. She worked as an Emergency Room Charge Nurse, as well as in Open Heart Surgery, obstetrics’/gynecology, pediatrics and finally retiring from her career as a consultant nurse. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time at the ocean and in the mountains, especially when the wild flowers were in bloom. But her real love was doting on her grandchildren. Leaving behind to miss her are her husband, Larry; sons David Slagle (Susie Askew), Ben Levien and Kent Slagle; daughters, Katie Slagle and Sara Levien; grandchildren, Dilan, Aidan, Demetri and Chase; brother, Thomas Walsh, sister, Marian Van Horn along with many friends and extended family. There will be a visitation from 3:00 until the Rosary at 6:30 at Powers Funeral Home in Sumner, Wa on Thursday, July 7th. A funeral mass will be on Friday, July 8th at 1100 at St Andrews Catholic Church in Sumner, with a burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Cancer Society. Betty was loved by many and will be missed by all.
