Kenwood Prescott Higgins, 89, of Fredericksburg went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 20, 2021.

He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts to Lawrence and Gladys Higgins. Ken was a veteran of the Air Force and served during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. Following his military service he worked at Davison U.S. Army Airfield in Fort Belvoir as an aircraft mechanic, then continued working in the Military District of Washington at both Fort Belvoir and Cameron Station in the capacities of aircraft overhaul inspector, equipment specialist, and procurement.

Ken was a member of Spotswood Baptist Church for 58 years with active participation in men's Sunday School and as a worship usher. He enjoyed hunting, reading, gardening, and spending time with family.

Survivors include his children, Victor Higgins (Laurie), Robert Higgins (Mary), Marjorie Higgins Young (Scott); and his beloved grandsons, Ethan Young, Andrew Young, and Patrick Bates. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Higgins; and his daughter, Carol Higgins Bates.

A celebration of Ken's home going will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26 at Spotswood Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will immediately follow the service in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
