Josefina was born March 24, 1955 in Sombrerete, Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Lucia Serrano and Jose Salas. She passed away February 20, 2021 at Carrus Specialty Hospital in Sherman, TX.

Josefina married the love of her life, Secilio Salas, on May 30, 1970 in Sombrerete. They came to the United States in 1978. She was a hard worker and excellent cook who enjoyed music and dancing. Josefina had a passion for gardening and flowers, especially roses. Although she had many interests, spending time with her family was her #1 priority.  Josefina was a selfless, traditional woman who set an excellent example for her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Secilio Salas; daughters, Micaela Sanchez and husband Gabriel, Manuela Barrientos and husband Antonio, and Silvia Salas; sons, Martin Salas and wife Rebecca and Jose Salas and wife Norma; mother, Lucia Salas; sisters, Marcela Salas, Leonor Salas, Ana Salas, and Maria Guadalupe Salas; brothers, Mario Salas, Patricio Salas, Ausuncion (Chon) Salas, and Antonio Salas; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Josefina was preceded in death by her father, Jose Salas; and brothers, Aurelio Salas and Roberto Salas.

Casket bearers are Martin Salas, Jose Salas, Rafael Barrientos, Abhi Avirneni, Logan Salas, and Mason Salas.
