Obituary: Gerald (Jerry) Cameron, 37, of route 1, East Johnson Road, Custer, was dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital of Mason County Wednesday evening following a snowmobile accident.

He was born May 26, 1941 in Muskegon, the son of Gerald and Ida (Swanson) Cameron. He is a lifetime resident of the Custer area and graduated from Mason County Eastern High School in 1959. Mr. Cameron married Sept. 9, 1961 to Judy Proue in Custer and the couple farmed in that area. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Custer, the Usher's Club of the Church, Scottville Optimist Club, Custer Lions Club, Mason County Dairy Association, Farm Bureau Associaton and the Custer Snowmobile Club. He was also a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Associaton and Michigan Animal Breeders Club. In 1974 the couple was named Michigan State Dairy Couple of this District.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Craig, 16, and Scott, 14, both at home; one daughter, Sherry, 15, also at home; his mother, Mrs. Ida Cameron of Custer; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Sue) Watters of Mount Pleasant; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on Jan 6, 1964 {Jan. 3, 1964} and one brother, James.

Mass of Christian burial for Mr. Cameron will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Custer with the Rev. William McKnight, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Custer. The family will be at the Stephen's Funeral Chapel in Scottville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. to receive friends. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society with envelopes being available at the funeral home. Stephens -- Scottville.
