One of twelve children born to Nicholas Gulick and Elizabeth Jane (Gano) Gulick, second son William G. Gulick born in NJ, first moved from New Jersey with the family to Klinegrove, PA. Thereafter, he went with his father and elder brother Henry to Lodi, Seneca Co., NY in 1802-3. The rest of the family followed after Nicholas had established a homestead and built a cabin in Lodi, NY.
William left Lodi in 1808, working his way south and west. He "lumbered" on the Allegany River. William served as a Lieutenant with the 2nd Indiana Militia, under Col. Robinson and Col. Bartholomew in the War of 1812.
He moved into Ohio, along with cousins who settled in Cincinnati.
William married his first wife Sarah Adams (1794-1820) on 27 August 1813 in Clark, Indiana. Seven years later, shortly after Sarah's death, William married secondly Martha T. Ritchey (1793-1879) on 3 Aug 1820, also in Indiana.
William and Sarah had children:
Eliza Jane Gulick 1814-1852 m. Jas. Carson
Martin Nicholas 1815-1900
Mary Gulick 1820-1899 m. Alex Bain
William and Martha had children:
Sarah Matilda 1821-1821
Narcissa Mathilda 1822-1909
Wm. Geo. Washington 1824-1849
Cicilia N. Amanda 1826-1898
Martha Ann 1828-1832
Julia Ann Louise 1830-1898

*Note: The supposition that this William served in the Blackhawk Wars of 1832, is yet unproven (2020). There is record of a William Gulick serving in N.J. for the Blackhawk War 1832-however our William was in Indiana during that time period (1832-1833). There were distant cousins in NJ in that time frame and likely the William Gulick serving with the 20th Reg. NJ Militia, under Capt. Maxwell, is distantly related.
