W. G. Alexander has a CSA pension application on line in the GA Archives under Fulton County. He says he enlisted in 1864 in Capt. James M. Payne's 1st GA State Troops Infantry. He was discharged in Atlanta due to physical disability. His pension ( # 178729-00751) was denied on the grounds that he did not serve 6 full months and his unit was mostly patriotic. In the disapproval letter is his date of death 3/2/1923 and birth listed as 12/31/1847.
