He was born in Charleston, SC to the late William P. & Ethel H. Layton.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Lucille T. Layton, and four brothers, James, Robert, Raymond, and Willard Layton.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth, was a Mason, and served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was self-employed in the construction business.
Friends and family will gather at the graveside for the funeral and burial at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah.
