Frederick W. Nestelle
Frederick W. Nestelle, 64, of 2814 NE Tillamook St., died Friday at Emanuel Hospital, after several years of ill health.
Born in Bellingham, Wash., Dec 26, 1896, Mrs. Nestelle was a resident of Portland since 1926. A graduate of Oregon State College in 1918 in chemical engineering, he was active and became a leader in the research and development field of food processing. After association with Gray & Co. for 20 years he established and became president of Nestelle Inc., manufacturing and food chemists.
He was an ardent gardener, specializing in fuchsias and orchids on which he was a recognized authority, and kept a beautifully flowered yard which was in the prize class in numerous competitions. He was twice president of the Men's Garden Club of Portland in 1944 and 1945. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Knife and Fork Club.
Funeral will be Tuesday, at 11:30 am as Westminster Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. Interment will be private. Surviving are his widow, Doris; two sons Frederick H. and Bert L. of Portland; a daughter, Jeanne Tomson of Hamburg, NY., and six granddaughters.
