He was born near Aurora, Indiana, August 27, 1847, and moved to Iowa with his parents in 1856. He was married at Clinton, Iowa, to Nancy M. Haney, February 21, 1870. No children were born, but they did adopt a daughter. The family came to Ness county, in 1878, and settled in what is now Highpoint township, before recently moving to Ness City. At one time he was county commissioner, trustee in two townships, justice of the peace, city councilman and police judge.
