Judy was born in Honea Path, SC to the late James Carlton Coker and Velma Kimsey Coker, where she grew up with her late brother Donnie Coker. She retired from Kemet Electronics and was a member of Word of Life Ministries. Judy enjoyed gardening, sharing meals with her friends, and most of all, spending time with her loving family.
Surviving her passing, in addition to her husband, is her son, D. Robin Melton; her two grandchildren Torrie R. Watson and M. Chris Melton; her three great-grandchildren Skyla Brown, Savannah Brown, and Audrey Watson; her stepson, Jimmy Shepherd; her two stepdaughters Cindy Hedrick and Karen Hanner; her four step-grandchildren Brandon Shepherd, J.R. Hedrick, Ashely Shepherd, and Amanda Hanner; and two step-great-grandchildren Natila Hanner and Scarlet Shepherd.
She will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Donald R. Melton and son, Michael L. Melton, at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery (608 Stage Coach Trail, Fallston, NC).
