Henry James Cripps, 78, husband of Nancy J, McLaughlin of Nelson-Miramichi, NB, passed away on Saturday evening, August 4, 2018 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Chatham, NB on March 21, 1940, he was the son of the late Henry B. and Helen (Johnson) Cripps.
Henry was a 10 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy. He was employed as a security guard in Saint John and Miramichi. Henry also was a 1996 graduate of NBCC Moncton in the cook course and worked at McDonald’s restaurant. He was a past member of the Chatham Lions Club and of the Miramichi Model Railroad Club. Henry was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Nelson-Miramichi.
Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by two daughters: Cynthia Turple (Mike) and her children Samantha Richard and Owen Roy all of Saint John, NB, Donna McDermott (Scott) of Saint John, NB; one son: James Cripps of Nova Scotia; one brother Joseph (Annetta) of Fall River, NS; two sisters: Gladys Cameron (Jerry) and Grace Marsh (late William) both of Miramichi, NB; one brother in law: Donald Ryan of Miramichi, NB. Two other grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephew, also faithful friends, Fred Trevors and Pat Nolan.
Henry is predeceased by his parents, one brother: Ken of Saint John, NB; three sisters: Catherine (Cass) Johnson of St. Stephen, NB, Edith Ramsay and Gertrude (Gertie) Ryan of Miramichi, NB
Visitation will be at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway on Friday August 10th from 4-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Nelson, NB on Saturday, August 11 at 11:00 AM with Father Arnie Hachey officiating. Burial will be in Maple Glen Cemetery.
