Kate A. Bair, 91, Indian Valley (Alpine), passed away Monday, March 3, 1997, in a Boise hospital with her loved ones by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 1997 at Thomason Funeral Chapel, Weiser. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser.
Kate was born Jan. 10, 1906 at Indian Valley, Idaho, the daughter of Andrew and Modie Steward Hutchison. She attended school at Alpine and graduated from Inter-Mountain Institute at Weiser. There she met her husband, Burke, whom she married on July 31, 1929. The couple moved to Alpine and took over the store in 1937, where they lived until retirement in 1972, moving to property next to the store where they resided ever since. Kate was an Alpine Sewing Club member for 57 years. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Burke of 67 years, of Alpine; twins, a son, Donald and wife Edna of Boise; daughter Donna and her husband, Eddy Smith of Ruth, Nev.; 5 grandkids, Debbie Raney, Kathy Smith, Bill Bair, Doug Smith and Teresa Bair; 7 great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Bob); her parents; two brothers and one sister.
