Grenada, Miss. -- William Louis Edward McCammon, 64, machinist, was killed Tuesday morning when struck by a car near his home, said officials. He was near his driveway when a car hit some gravel on a county road, went out of control, and struck him about 6:50 a.m., said Glenda Jones, dispatcher for the Grenada County Sheriff's Department. The accident was on Hardy Road north of Grenada near Mississippi 7. Mrs. Jones did not know who was driving the car. The accident is still under investigation.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at National Funeral Home with burial in Wayside Cemetery in Scobey. McCammon was a Baptist and a World War II veteran.

McCammon, the husband of Carrie Louise McCammon, also leaves a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Taylor of Grenada; two sons, Louis Edward McCammon of Grenada and Barry Wade McCammon of Southaven; four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Green and Mrs. Sadre Harbin, both of Grenada, Mrs. Katherine Davis of Nesbit, and Mrs. Ruth Whicker of Spencer, Ind.; seven brothers, Rex McCammon, Danny McCammon, Vernon McCammon, all of Southaven, Cecil McCammon of Grenada, Fred McCammon of Hernando, R.J. McCammon of Nesbit, and Delma McCammon of Kokomo, Ind., and five grandchildren.
