Robert “Bob” Earl Gardner, age 88, of Mableton passed away February 12, 2021. Bob was born in Jay, FL to Genia Augustus and Annie Dora Gardner, and lived there until he was 17 years old. At 17, he joined the U.S. Army. Bob served in the military for 20 years and worked in the Persian missile field. When he retired from the Army, he was a Chief Warrant Officer 3. After his military retirement, he went to work for N.A.P., where he was a field engineer and instructor for televisions.
In 1967, he met the love of his life, Mary Ella Gardner, and they married February 16, 1968. He and Mary Ella loved to travel and were exceptionally fond of traveling in their R.V. Bob was also very involved in his church family and was a long-time member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ella Gardner; his parents, and he was the last surviving of his 11 siblings. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Tom (Pat) Little of Decatur, AL, Richard (Linda) Little of Harvest, AL, Roger (Debie) Little of Covington, Donald Little of Cloudland, Randall Little of Delta, AL, Dale Gardner of Jay, FL, and Greg (Geneva) Gardner of Milton, FL; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; and beloved extended family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 16th, 2:00 PM at Davis-Struempf Funeral Home for Dr. Randal Whitten officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM before the service.
