Arlington, Texas –
Roy Neal Staton Sr., 83, passed from this life on Sunday, January 3, 2021, in Arlington, Texas.
He was born on Saturday, December 18, 1937 in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Roy Franklin Staton and Elsie Mae Barnard Staton.
Roy was a man of many interests, including hunting, golfing, rodeo, piano and guitar playing, dancing, coin and knife collecting, and traveling. Roy was a published textbook author. He wrote poetry and biographies.
He graduated as Valedictorian from McMann High School in Oklahoma. He attended Southeastern State College on an academic scholarship, where he became a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Roy transferred to Oklahoma State University, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Later he received a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington.
He worked at LTV Aerospace for 32 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roy Franklin Staton and Elsie Mae Staton, his sister Maxine Staton Perry, and his son Roy Neal Staton Jr.
He is survived by Phyllis Staton, his wife of 60 years; his sons -- Robert Shawn Staton, and Michael Douglas Staton; grandsons -- Erick Jordan Staton, Doran Zackery Staton, Colin Alexander Staton, and Cameron Jax Staton; granddaughter Cheyenne Rose Staton; great-grandsons -- Jude Maynard Staton, Oliver Thomas Staton, Saige Julian Staton, and Damon Zackery Staton.
Roy endeavored to live his life as a man, a Christian, and a Cowboy.
