Will of Jacob Hershberger, Washington, Cumberland County, (later Franklin County), Pennsylvania.

In the name of God Amen I Jacob Hershberger of Washington in the County of Cumberland and State of Pennsylvania being very sick but of sound memory and understanding Blessed be God. Do this second day of March In the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eight Two make and Publish this my Last will and Testament. In Manner Following, That is to say I1 I Recommend my soul into the Hands of Almighty God who Give it, and I order that my Funeral Charges and my just Debts be paid, And I Give to my Beloved wife MARY my two best Milk Cows, and my two best Beds and Bed Cloths, and my Clock, and my Ritter, and my Cloth Press and
Cubberton and two Iron Pots and Copper Kettle, and all my yarn that is now spun and all my Flaa and hemp now Ready to spin and I Give to my son CHRISTIAN Five pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania for his roragative Right and then to have an Equil Share with my two other sons namely JACOB and SAMUEL and to my son Samuel I give my Plantation whereon I now live adjoining John Johnston James Moor and others, and also all the Land I have in the South Mountain, Together with all the Improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and hold to himself his heirs and assigns Forever and I also give to my son Samuel my new Waggon and three Horses and Geers and my two Best Plows and from Harrow and my still and all belonging to it, and my said Son Samuel shall pay to my two other sons namely Christian andJacob Four Hundred Pounds Lawful money of Pennsylvania that is to say Ten Pounds to each of them one year after my Deseased and then Ten Pound yearly and Every year till the whole sum of Four Hundred Pounds Shall be paid but in ____ my wife Should Happen to Die before the said Sum of money Shall all be Due, then my said Son Samuel Shall pay to my two other sons the sum of Fifteen Pounds to Each of them Yearly till the said sum of Four Hundred Pounds shall be fully paid and it is my will that my Personal Estate Except what is herein Before Bequithed, I Shall not be sold but Equally Divided among my three said sons, and my said son Samuel Shall give to my wife Mary the sum of Twelve Pounds yearly and Every year During her Natural life and Twenty Bushels of wheat, and Six Bushels of Rey, and One Hundred net of Pork and Fifty net Beef and a half Bushel of Salt, and five pound net of Dallow, and Twenty net of Hakled Flaxor Hemp and Eight Pounds wt. of Good wooll and keeps her two Cows in good order both Summer and Winters, and my wife shall
have the use and Benefit of My Lower Garding, and it is my will that my said Son Samuel shall not sell the Herein Before mentioned Plantation without the Consent of his mother and further it is my will that my wife shall live with my said son Samuel in the same
House I now Live in, During her life, and in case they shall not well agree together It is my will that my said Son Samuel Shall Build her a sufficiant House to Live in somewhere neigh my spring and nominate and appoint my said three sons namly Christian Jacob and Samuel to be the Executors of this my Last will and
Testament, and Revoke and Disanoll all former wills by me herebefore made, and Declare this to be my Last will and Testament and no other. In Witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Day and Year first written Signed Sealed Pernounsed and acknowledged by the said Jacob Harshberger as his Last will and Testament in the Presence of us a Sam Critz Samuel Royer Jacob Hershberger

On the 25 day of November 1791 Adam Pritz one of the Witness to the foregoing writing appd before me the Subscriber, and on the Solomn Affirmation doth declare and say that he was personally present and saw and hear Jacob Herhsberger aforesaid now desceasd ____ write his name unto and seal and publish the foregoing writing and for his last Will and Testament and that at the time of the __ing therof he the said Jacob was of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding according to the best of his knowledge and belief, that his then affimants ___ name signed th__ts in of his own proper hand writing done at the same time, and that He did also se Samuel Royer and other witness sign his name thereto
