Edwin Blaney, 79, loving grandfather, father and husband passed away January 30, 1996 of natural causes.
Born March 17, 1916 in Fairview, Wyoming to Alfred and Elizabeth Evans Blaney. Married Amy Cuthbert, May 10, 1941 in Farmington, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a high priest and active member of the LDS Church.
Edwin spent his early years in Wyoming and Draper, Utah. He served in the Coast Guard During World War II. For over 30 years he worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation. Following his retirement he worked as a devoted crossing guard for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Dept. He was loved and respected by his "crossing kids" and their parents.
Edwin was a kind man who provided countless hours of service to family members and friends who called upon him for help. He deeply loved his grandchildren. He also had a great love for animals and leaves behind his two faithful dogs, Chipper and Morgy.
Survivors include his wife, Amy, of Kearns; his son, Edwin E. Blaney and wife, Dianne, South Jordan; and two daughters, Amy B. Monk and husband, Sheldon, Layton; and Shari B. Peterson and husband, Dan, West Jordan. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Lawrence Blaney, Kearns; and one sister, Betty Troyer, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Allan and five sisters, Dorothy, Florence, Virginia, Alene, and his much loved twin, Edna.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Road. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment Redwood Memorial Estates. Donations may be made to the Utah Arthritis Foundation.
