Drue was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life, and worked to build many bridges in many different areas across the state, including Cle Elum and Ellensburg. He and his brothers owned Burrous Brothers Construction for many years, before selling the business and going to work for Nelson Construction in Ferndale. Drue served for 48 plus years as a volunteer for the Ferndale Fire Department, and was a lifetime member of the Elks Club. He loved to fish and hunt and was an avid coin collector. Drue was also very fond of birds, and he fed them every day in his yard. Even when he was in the hospital, Drue made sure someone was able to feed his birds. Drue was a wonderful man, with a huge heart, and a genuine love for people. Drue was very sociable, and always saw the best in everyone. He made it a priority to make sure that all of his friends and family were taken care of and was known for his "If you need me, I'll be there" attitude. His favorite times were the ones spent with those he loved.
