Ruthann Marie Bates was born to John Leslie and Mary Lavina (Devlin) Bates 17 Dec 1930 in rural Drayton, Pembina, North Dakota. She graduated high school in 1948 and worked at the Drayton State Bank. Ruthann married her high school "sweetheart," Willis (Bill) Everett Jorde, 6 Aug 1950, on the 25th anniversary of her parents' wedding date.
Bill joined the Air Force and his assignments took them to San Antonio, Texas, Utah, Germany, and back to San Antonio where Ruthann died of cancer 17 Mar 1972.
Bill and Ruthann had three children: Robyn Marie b. 18 Nov 1954; Lane Willis b. 25 Oct 1957; and Karen Leslie b. 1 Nov 1961.
