CORNETT, Cecil Floyd
Floyd passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 24, 2013 at the age of 91. Floyd was predeceased by Irene, his wife of 66 years on February 20, 2012. He is survived by his son and daughters, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Floyd was born in Calgary and moved to Surrey in his teens and graduated from Queen Elizabeth School. He worked as an electrician and machinist but spent most of his working years with Ford Motors until he retired at age 59. He fell in love with Irene and they were married in 1945 in Vancouver and resided in Burnaby until retiring to the Interior of BC. Floyd loved cars and owned over 65 different models, starting with a 1939 Ford club coupe. His evenings were spent working on his cars. He was also an active member of UAW local 432 and held various positions on the council.

Upon retirement he enjoyed fishing and camping, tying flies and making jewellery. In his later years he spent hours sitting on the patio enjoying nature and watching sports. Floyd was a gentleman, had many close friends, and respected other people's opinions. He worried about his children but allowed them the freedom to make their own decisions.
