Born August 23 1914 in Beaverton, MI, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Franklin Harwood and Edith Jepson Harwood and stepmother Alice Jepson Harwood of Whitwell, England.
A resident of Kankakee and Orland Park, IL, Mrs. Rogers taught in the Kankakee Herscher and Manteno Schools as a first grade teacher for 33 years. After retiring she was the owner of Cardinal Beauty Salon in Kankakee for 14 years. She was a member of the Delta Kapa Gamma and many Professional Teachers Associations. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Bradley and also St Michael's Catholic Church in Orland Park for 18 years. She currently resided with her daughter and family in Conover.
In addition to her parents she was preceded, in death by her husband, Willard “Bill” Rogers of Bourbonnais and three brothers, Winston Harwood of Dundedin, FL, Aubrey Harwood of Woodhull, IL and Jack Craig Harwood, killed while serving in World War II.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Alice Rogers Cote and Larry Cote of Conover; grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Scott Cote and Andy and Janet Cote, all of Hickory; and great grandson Justin Cote of Hickory; also surviving are John Tierney and many family members in England and Ireland.
Burial will be held at a later date in IL.
