Bonnie Jean Jones Burtcher was born in Syracuse, New York on August 7, 1953. Although her parents had married in Oklahoma City, her father worked at the General Electric Research Lab which was then located in New York. She returned to Oklahoma City with the family and started the 5th grade at Windsor Hills Elementary School. She graduated from Putnam City High School in 1971, where she was active in choir. She attended UCO, then Central State University, for a year, after which she married Dean Allen Burtcher. After seven years, they divorced. She sang with the Oklahoma Opry, various country and western bands, and Spirited Voices here in Oklahoma. She worked at Deaconess for 33 years and Forest Glade Retirement Center for 3 years.

Bonnie had been fighting cancer but died from a stroke on February 4, 2021. She has gone to be with Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nadean Jones, and her beloved Aunt and Uncle, R. L. and Barbara Pittman. She leaves behind her father, Bill Jones, a sister, Margaret Angela Jones Nievar, a niece, Margaret Campbell, two nephews, Richard William “Bill” Nievar and Robert Lee Nievar, and five grandnephews, William Nievar, Bruce Nievar, Daniel Nievar, Ben Campbell, and Jonathan Nievar.

A funeral will be held on zoom at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 13; for information, please contact Mercer-Adams in Bethany, Oklahoma. The viewing will take place from 9:00 am to 10:30 am prior to the funeral at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5020 N.W. 63rd Street, in Oklahoma City. Interment will be at the Bethany Cemetery.
