July 25, 1925 ~ February 3, 2021 (age 95)
On February 3rd, 2021, John Howard Ashton, Jr., 95, of Baltimore, MD passed away. Beloved husband of Elfriede Ashton, married for 63 years; devoted father of John Ashton III & his wife Mindy, Richard Ashton & his wife Nancy, Robin Bowles & her husband Terry, David Ashton & his wife Laura, Christine Gannon & her husband Kevin, and the late Robert Ashton; loving grandfather of John IV, Christina, Ricky, Robert, Randy, Jennifer, Christopher, Daniel, Matthew, Eric, Samantha, Caelea, and Patrick; caring great-grandfather of Victoria, Lucy, Corona, Lapita, Vicky, Espi, Sari, Anna, Dominic, Aria, Carter, Emmett, Elizabeth, and Logan; dear brother of the late June Jenkins, Richard Ashton, and Bill Ashton; also survived by many other loving family, friends, and his beloved cat, Daisy May.
John served in the Army during World War II at the young age of 17, where he earned his purple heart. After his time in the Army, John spent most of his life fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay and belonged to the Eastern Yacht Club since 1982. Being the family man that he was, John will be missed and loved dearly by his family.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate John's life at the family-owned Evans Life Celebration Home- 8800 Harford Road on Tuesday, February 9th from 3-5PM & 7-9PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 10th at 11AM at Evans Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow at Gardens of Faith.
