Geraldine (Gerry) Marie Wiley Daniel was born in Osceola, Iowa on May 12, 1918 to Arthur Daniel (Mode) and Martha Josephine Perdue Wiley. She passed away in Dallas, Texas on January 6, 2020 at the age of 101. At the age of 4, her family moved to Burlington, Iowa. She came to Dallas in 1937 to visit her aunt and decided to stay. On Dec. 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked, and in January 1942, her picture appeared in the Dallas Morning News and papers around the country to rally women to take over the jobs of men leaving to fight in the war. She married Dallas Police Captain John F. Daniel in 1946, and they had one son, John, Jr. After World War II ended, there was a large demand for new houses. Gerry sold houses for builders in Parkdale and what is now Midway Hollow. She has lived in the same house in Midway Hollow since 1951. She was a great wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all the people in her life. Gerry was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters; Bernice Losey and Helen Courtney and three brothers; Clayton Wiley, Ron Wiley and Don Wiley. She is survived by son John, nieces and nephews. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
