Eurilla Jessie Hartness Watts, 88, a resident of Maple Leaf Healthcare in Statesville, formerly of Stony Point, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Maple Leaf Healthcare. Lovingly known as "Mama Watts" by many, she was born March 11, 1920, in Iredell County, to the late James Robert," J.R." Hartness and Evelyn T. Lowrance Hartness.

Mrs. Watts was a member of Stony Point United Methodist Church. She retired from Flex knit in Statesville in 1986 after having worked there for many years. Many remember her for her beautiful sewing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee Watts; and a daughter, Janet Paula Watts Thomas.

Survivors include grandsons, Jason Lee Thomas of Charlotte, and Anthony Todd Thomas and wife, Amy; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Savannah and Parker Thomas, all of Greer, S.C.; a brother, Robert Hartness of Statesville; three sisters, Edna Hartness Grose of Statesville, Mildred HartnessTilley and Catheryn Hartness Seng, both of Baltimore, Md.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stony Point United Methodist Church by the Rev. Deval Mason. Burial will be in Stony Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall of Stony Point United Methodist Church. Notes of sympathy may be sent for the Watts family at www.adamsfunerals.com.
