(obituary:) DEATH COMES AFTER MONTH'S ILLNESS Following an illness of about a month's duration, Mrs. Richard C. Lane died yesterday morning at six o'clock from the effects of an attack of fever. The funeral will take place this morning at ten o'clock from the house on Judd street to the Puukamalii cemetery where the remains will be interred. Mrs. Lane was about thirty-six years of age and was born at Waiohinu, Hawaii. She was the daughter of Rev. J. Kauhane, the well known minister of Waiohinu. Besides her husband she leaves, mourning her loss, seven children, all of tender years. She was a sister of Supervisor Samuel Kauhane of Hawaii county, Noah Kauhane of Honolulu and Mrs. E. C. Roberts, also of this city.

Clarice B. Taylor noted important points of the Kauhane genealogy in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin (5 & 12 July 1951). The latter article (p 28, attached here) notes certain names repeated many times within this family. The name 'Manohelii' was originally 'Ka-Manohealii' traced back to an ancient Hawaiian genealogy (not further specified) which "should properly be written Mano-he'lii showing the vowel has been dropped." It's labeled a likely "kapu" name.
