ANDERSON, IN – The angels rejoiced as Darrell Wayne Cooper walked through the gates of Heaven on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from his earthly home. Wayne and his family were former Alexandria residents.

Wayne was born in Winifrede, West Virginia on May 12, 1946 to the Reverend Forest and Annabelle (Caldwell) Cooper. He shared his growing up years in Cooper Hollow with his brothers Perry (Kay) Cooper, Kenneth (Shirley) Cooper, Tim (Gwen) Cooper and David (Margie) Cooper.

On June 25, 1967 Wayne married the love of his life, Judith A. Fausnaugh. Together they shared 54 years and were blessed with two precious children, daughter Staci Cooper of Anderson and son Chad (Emily) Cooper of Columbus. He also cherished his two grandchildren, Grant Evan and Claire Olivia who are Chad and Emily’s children.

Wayne was further blessed with two brothers-in-law whom he affectionately referred to as his “two other brothers;” Don (Joy) Fausnaugh of Evansville and Rusty “Clarence” (Jayne) Fausnaugh of Valparaiso. He also had numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews in Indiana, West Virginia and Ohio whom he dearly treasured.

Wayne was affectionately referred to as “the Box Man” as he devoted over 40 years to the corrugated industry in Circleville, Ohio, Gas City and Plymouth, Indiana. When troubles came, Wayne was often quoted as saying “This is not an obstacle, but another opportunity!”

First and foremost, Wayne was a man of integrity…a man of God. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who loved his Savior with all of his heart. Wayne delighted in singing God’s praises and offered himself as His servant.

Wayne was an avid supporter of the Alexandria Tigers, the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Columbus East Olympians. However, his greatest joy was serving as a mentor and coach to countless young men. He encouraged them not only to excel in sports but also in life. Across the years, Wayne was overjoyed as he received words of thanks for his presence in those young men’s lives.

He will also be lovingly remembered by the families of Ted (Nancy) Brown of Circleville, Ohio, John (Mary Kay) Dillon of Jackson, Ohio and Donna Faye Stevens of Grove City, Ohio.

Wayne is surrounded at his heavenly reunion by his loving parents Reverend Forest and Annabelle Cooper, mother -in-law and father-in-law Shirley “Nanny” and Clarence Fausnaugh, his sisters-in-law-Joy Fausnaugh and Kay Cooper, Brothers-Perry Cooper and Kenneth Cooper, 2nd Father-in-law-Bob Lucas, niece Denise Cooper and cherished Uncle Bob Dunigan.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to longtime friends, Mike and Connie Owens at Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria. The family will honor Wayne with a Celebration of Life gathering to be announced at a future date.
