James Edward Aguiar, 85 passed peacefully on January 22, 2021. Jimmy was born on July 19, 1935 to Frank Vieira Aguiar and Eliza Luis (Lewis) Aguiar of Orland as the youngest of four sons. After graduation from Orland High School in 1953, he attended Chico State. He later joined his parents and brothers as framers of Aguiar Ranch. In the beginning, many crops were grown including olives, almonds, oranges, and Grade B Dairy. Eventually, the Ranch was converted to Olives only. Jimmy married Joan Katherine Walker on September 9, 1956 and together they raised four children on the Ranch.

His avid love of sports was seen in all aspects of his life. He was a fast pitch softball pitcher for the Artois team for 20 years and coached almost all of his son's little league teams, celebrating many championship seasons. He was a season ticket holder for the San Francisco 49ers and the Sacramento Kings, but also loved to attend the Raiders, Giants, and Oakland A's games. He was fortunate enough to attend a few Super Bowls and World Series games and he rarely missed his grandchildren's events.

Travel was also a big part of his life. He went to Mexico just about every year and took his family to the Azores in 2005. He also traveled to several places in California and across the United states. He loved going to the Portuguese Festa in Fort Bragg, where he was the proud father and grandfather of four Festa Queens over the years. He was past president of the Orland Holy Ghost Club and served on the committee for most of his life. Jimmy was also past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus of St. Dominic's Church in Orland.

As a farmer, he was very involved in the Glenn County Farm Bureau, serving as President for a time. He was instrumental in starting the first Cal Farm Crab Feed which over the years has grown to become a huge community event and fundraiser in Orland. He had a great deal of pride in being a farmer.

Jimmy was a fun loving character and joker and enjoyed a good party. He loved attending them and giving them. He was always very involved in his class reunions and he so enjoyed the monthly lunch party with the "guys". He would always plan something extravagant for his birthdays and he liked to "hold court" with his family and friends around. His parties would always include a lot of great food.

His generous nature was evident by his visits to his friends and colleagues almost daily with gifts of oranges, jars of olives, watermelons or whatever was available for him to share. He was always there for a friend in need.

James is survived by his wife Joanie, daughter Jolleen (Mike) Whitsett, Son Jeffery (Tana) Aguiar and Son In Law, James Lodge. Five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Quinley, Thomas (Cristina) Whitsett, Larissa (Gabe) Perez, Karlee and Breanna Aguiar. Five beautiful great granddaughters, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins and his beloved mutt, Daisy.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence, George, and Louie (his partner in crime), his son Joseph (1989) and his daughter, Janie (2009).

The Family would like to thank Silvia Punzo, his longtime care giver and everyone at Windsor Chico Creek for their amazing work and being our eyes and ears during Dad's illness, and a special thank you to Rosa Silveira. Due to COVID-19, services will be private. However, a viewing will be held at the Sweet-Olsen Family Mortuary on February 9, 2021 from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Orland Little League or the Town and Country Humane Society in Orland.
