"the old lady is my fast friend": Scollay to Mrs. Dix, May 21, 1777, Mercy Scollay Papers. Mary Warren, General Warren's mother, eventually remarried. She went to live with her new husband, Deacon John Adams, in the neighboring town of Milton. He passed away on what would have been Joseph Warren's forty-ninth birthday in 1790. Deacon John Adams was born in Milton on February 26, 1709. He married his first wife Sarah Swift on May 19, 1730. Sarah gave birth to at least twelve children and died at the age of sixty-eight on November 16, 1774. Adams was eighty-one when he died in 1790.
