William Jack Hamilton, a resident of Casa Grande since 1916, passed away at his home in this city Tuesday morning, Dec. 4th, following a serious illness from cancer of the stomach. With Mr. Hamilton at the time of his death were his three daughters, Miss Gladys Hamilton, Mrs. C.J. Wilson and Mrs. Louis Rowland, a sister, Mrs. Mary Carter, all of whom have given him constant care the past three months, his son, William, and a brother, Rufus W., of Maricopa.

Mr. Hamilton and family came to Casa Grande from Oklahoma in 1916 for the health of his wife, who passed away from tuberculosis a year later. Mr. Hamilton passed his 60th birthday September 12th and a few days later was taken to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix for an operation. There, upon examination, it was found that the malady of the sick man was too far developed for an operation and after a rest he was brought back to his home here that he might be with his children.

Mr. Hamilton was buried from the Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon, with Rev. Curry H. Love officiating. He was for many years an elder in the church and also served as superintendent of the Sunday school until a few months ago. Members of the Masonic lodge, of which the deceased was a member, had charge of services at the grave.

Aside from his church duties, the deceased found time for much civic work. He served as president of the high school board for 11 years and for the city in various capacities, being City Clerk at the time of death. He was also a member of the Boy Scout executive committee and was prominently identified with the county and state Democratic committees.

Mr. Hamilton was in the mercantile business during his early residence in Casa Grande, later entering the real estate business, being identified with R. L. Hicklin and the late T. V. Dykes.
