Elizabeth Crayton was born November 29, 1820 in Marion County, Alabama. She was the third child of John and Rebecca Lasater Crayton. Their other two children were Margaret, born in 1815 and James Lasater, born in 1818, also born in Marion County, Alabama.

On the death of their mother in 1824, their father moved the children to Franklin County, Tennessee to be cared for by their maternal grandparents, Hezekiah and Elizabeth Copeland Lasater. On reaching adulthood, Margaret and Elizabeth married in Franklin County and made their homes there. James Lasater migrated to the Republic of Texas with his father.

Elizabeth married James Augustus Jones, a schoolteacher born in 1812 in North Carolina, on 8 Feb. 1842. They had the following children—the first four born in Franklin County, Tennessee, the fifth in Caldwell County, Texas.
Sarah Ann "Sally" Jones, born 1843 married #1 J.W.G. Yarbrough, #2 Major Marshall Henry Short, #3 Wesley Johnson.
Arthur Weston Jones born 1844 and died 1861.
Mary Elizabeth Jones born 13 Aug. 1846 married 15 Dec. 1861 in Travis County, Texas died 23 Oct. 1918 in Jeddo, Bastrop County, Texas.
Martha M. "Mattie" Jones: born 21 Dec. 1849 Married 29 Feb. 1872 in Caldwell, County Married Peter Leonard "Lynn" Harrison died 13 Dec. 1922 in Joliet, Caldwell County, Texas.
Rebecca "Becky" Jones, died age 2 years old.

In about 1852, Elizabeth’s husband James was killed in Franklin County, Tennessee by the parent of one of his pupils. Elizabeth Crayton Jones left directly after her husband’s burial, leaving a large farm and joining her father in Martindale in Caldwell County, Texas. as she Besides the loss of her husband, Elizabeth suffered the death of her brother James Lasater Crayton in the Mexican War, the death of her only son Arthur Weston Jones in the Civil War and the pain of Reconstruction.

On May 27, 1858, in Caldwell County, Elizabeth Crayton Jones married Abel "Abe" White, a widower with seven children who had moved to Texas from Taney County, Missouri. Born to them on May 9, 1860 was a daughter Arena Reeney who married Samuel Houston Ratliff on July 16, 1878 in Caldwell County.

Abel "Abe" Hiram White was born in Marion County, S.C. about 1803. His father was Isham White and his mother was the daughter of a Cherokee Indian Chief.

Elizabeth Crayton Jones White died on Dec. 1, 1905 in Jeddo, Bastrop County, Texas while she was living with her daughter Mary Jones White, widow of William Leonard White Sr. Elizabeth is buried in the Delhi Cemetery in Caldwell County where six generations of her descendants are buried.
