John Elmer Bricker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bricker, was born August 21, 1873 in Polo, Ogle county, Illinois. As a youth, he came with his parents to Nebraska and settled in Saline county, near Crete.

On December 9, 1896, he was united in marriage to Della A. Joy at Wilber. In 1909 Mr. Bricker and his wife moved from their home in Crete to Haines City, Florida and in July , 1910, one son, Rollin, was born.

They returned to Nebraska in the late fall of 1910, and a short time later settled in Fairmont, where they made their home until Mrs. Bricker's death in November, 1939. At this time Mr. Bricker went to Lincoln to make his home with his son, Rollin, and remained there until his death on August 19, 1947.

Mr. Bricker was a member of the Fairmont Methodist church many years and taught in the Sunday school here. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Elm Park, Methodist church in Lincoln.

Surviving Mr. Bricker are his son, Rollin; a daughter-in-law, Lottie; and two grandsons, Rex Eugene and Alan Lee. There are also one brother and five sisters: Charles of St. Joseph, Mo.; Miss Lillian Miller of Crete, Mrs. Pearl Hayden of Boulder, Colo.; Mrs. Alice Kenny and Miss Myrtle Bricker of Dorchester; and Mrs. Ada Kelch of Grand Island. In addition, there are many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Fairmont Methodist church Sunday afternoon, August 24. The minister in charge was Rev. Robert L. Embree of Friend, assisted by the Rev. L.A. Fishel of Fairmont. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
