Mrs. Carmen (Macchia) Lemanski, 91, of Adams, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Williamstown Commons surrounded by her family. She was born in Adams on October 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Michael and Nellie (Kustra) Macchia. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School with the class of 1947. She married the love of her life, Lawrence Lemanski on October 21, 1950. She and her husband were avid golfers, members of Skyline Country Club and faithful Boston Red Sox fans. Carmen loved to cook and anyone that came to her house always left with a full stomach. She loved music and movies; Christmas was her favorite holiday. She could always be seen with a Rosary and was a devoted grandmother and the grandchildren loved spending time with her. She was never at a loss of words. Her humor was contagious, and her feisty spirit was well known by all. Carmen was a part time waitress at the former Howard Johnson Restaurant in Williamstown. She had been employed at the former General Electric Company and Sprague Electric Company after graduating from high school. She last worked as a medical transcriptionist for the former North Adams Regional Hospital until retiring in 1989. In their retirement years, Larry and Carmen would take bus trips to Foxwood Casino, vacation at the Cape and attend winter Red Sox games in Fort Myers. Her husband Lawrence died on September 27, 2007. She is survived by her two daughters, Christine Tietgens and her husband Peter of Danville, VT and Susan Barthe and her companion David Smachetti of Adams; her two sons, Michael Lemanski and his wife Lynne of Cheshire and Bill Lemanski and his fiancé Sollena Morginn of Adams; her six grandchildren, Cody Leibold and her husband Jonathan, Alyssa Bromley and her companion Ron Tatro, Kyle Bromley, Jamie Barthe and Michael and Katie Lemanski; four great grandchildren, Olivia, Kolton and Connor Leibold and Alyviah Bromley and her beloved dog Missy. She is also survived by her three sisters, Geraldine Calderella, Kathleen Noel and her most beloved sister and best friend Toni Vitali and her husband Don. Carmen resided at Williamstown Commons for the last 5 years, where she even beat COVID. She was well loved and known for her bubbly personality by the staff, residents and visitors. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Williamstown Commons, Hospice Care in the Berkshires and to Dr. Allen Joslin. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd at 2:00 P.M. in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Per current restrictions, all attending must wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
